Ashtanga Mysore & Led

Ashtanga is the speciality of GaiaYoga shala - our teachers are dedicated ashtangis, trained at the source of this method and long-term students of certified Sr. Ashtanga teachers. They are fully respecting the tradition, yet following the individual needs of their students. Their adjustments are deep and safe, helping the practitioners to better understand, explore and deepen their practice.ashtanga

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a dynamic traditional yoga style for excellence founded by the great Guru T. Krishnamacharya at the beginning of the past century. This style was developed by his pupil Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who was teaching this practice at his Institute in Mysore, India, until the respectable age of 95. The aim of Ashtanga is to connect the breath with the movements (vinyasa principle) into a continuous flow of precise series of yoga poses (asanas) to reach the state of "meditation in motion". Power yoga, Vinyasa Flow and other dynamic yoga styles are based mainly on the primary series of Ashtanga practice. The heat produced by the exercise deeply detoxifies the body and improves health and well-being.

In Ashtanga MYSORE class students practice the Primary, Intermediate or Advanced Series in the same room but each one at his own pace. The teacher helps students individually, respecting their capacities and pace. These classes are also suitable for beginners, as it is a traditional way of learning yoga.

In Ashtanga LED class the teacher leads the whole group through the Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa).

Ashtanga Mantra (opening prayer)

Om
Vande Gurunam charanaravinde
Sandarshita svatma sukhava bodhe
Nih sreyase jangalikayamane
Samsara halahala mohashantyai
Abahu purushakaram
Shankhachakrasi dharinam
Sahasra shirasam svetam
Pranamami Patanjalim
Om

I bow to the lotus feet of the masters
who teach the good knowledge, showing the way to Self Awakening
that acts like the jungle physician, removing the poison of ignorance
caused by conditioned existence.
I prostrate before Patanjali whose upper body has a human form,
holding a sword of discrimination,a wheel of light representing infinite time,
and the conch shelf representing Divine sound.
Appealing radiant with a thousand heads,
incarnation of Adisesa, my salutations to thee.

Mangala Mantra (closing prayer)

Om
Svasti prajabhyah paripalayanta
nyayena margena mahim mahishaha
gobrahmanebhyah shubhamastu nityam
lokahsamasta sukhino bhavantu
Om Shanti Shanti Shantih

Let prosperity be glorified
Let rulers rule the world with law and justice
Let divinity and erutidion be protected
Let all beings everywhere be happy and free
Om peace, peace, peace
