Ashtanga Mantra (opening chant)

Samsara halahala mohashantyai
Abahu purushakaram
Shankhachakrasi dharinam
Sahasra shirasam svetam

Om
I bow to the lotus feet of the masters
who teach the good knowledge, showing the way to Self Awakening
that acts like the jungle physician, removing the poison of ignorance
caused by conditioned existence.
I prostrate before Patanjali whose upper body has a human form,
holding a sword of discrimination, a wheel of light representing infinite time,
and the conch shelf representing Divine sound.
Appealing radiant with a thousand heads,
incarnation of Adisesa,
my salutations to thee.
Mangala Mantra
(closing prayer)
Om
Svasti prajabhyah paripalayanta
nyayena margena mahim mahishaha
gobrahmanebhyah shubhamastu nityam
lokahsamasta sukhino bhavantu

Let prosperity be glorified
Let rulers rule the world with law and justice
Let divinity and erudition be protected
Let all beings everywhere be happy and free
Om peace, peace, peace
