Beyond Ashtanga (TT300)
(GaiaYoga TT300 accredited: 50 hours)
INTENTION:
- Gain a deeper understanding and skillfully apply the foundational principles of movement and breathing to build strength, mobility, and balance in body and mind.
- Confidently use these principles to help students of any background, enabling a safe advancement into more demanding postures, preventing injuries, and support them through recovery with therapeutic modifications of the practice.
- Look at an individual student and have the knowledge, skill, and confidence to see what they need and how to improve their practice in the most simple way.
- Increase your skill in giving safe, clear, supportive hands-on and hands-off assistance to your students.
- Know how to apply the Ashtanga Vinyasa principles in your own practice and when teaching others to create a safe, healthy space for growth (even if you teach other types of yoga than Ashtanga)
CONTENT:
- 3 weekends of in-person workshops with live practice, group work, community
- Weekly Zoom-sessions in between the weekend workshops for discussion of concepts, deepening the understanding, learning the basic “theory”, Q&A, small practices
- Assignments to apply principles, details, and cues in between sessions in your own practice to boost your understanding and clarity
PROGRAM:
Topics covered during the training include:
- The foundation of healthy movement, how to grow from Samastitih into any posture, and the key points of a healing alignment that will also make you fly
- A simple, practical approach to the anatomy and physiology of yoga, including movements of the 9 major joint complexes and how to use them in practice and teaching, how to create an energizing practice and increase circulation in the body, and the right way to engage the core
- The 9 main bandhas, their function, and how to apply them to stay safe in any asana, while improving strength, flexibility, and circulation
- Ekam - inhale: how to use the count in Ashtanga for confidence, clarity, and a serene mind
- Learn safe, accessible, and effective, but easier versions of each posture, including a teaching methodology for the ashtanga vinyasa first series to any level
- Become skillful in hands-on adjustments by understanding your role and using the foundational principles used in this course (instead of relying on firm approaches to adjust a particular posture)
- Basics of therapeutic applications of Posture, Movement, and Breathing to make the yoga you teach safer and more effective and deepen your knowledge of how to manage injuries and health conditions
- Get direct feedback and guidance from senior teachers and all your questions answered.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
- 3 weekend workshops (12hours) in-person @GaiaYoga Zagreb (Online participation can be arranged):
10.-11.1.2026. // 7.-8.2.2026. // 28.-29.3.2026.
- 9 Zoom-Sessions (ca. 1,5hours) from January to April in between the weekend workshops for:
- discussion of concepts
- deepening the understanding
- learning the basic “theory”
- Q&A & supporting practices
- Assignments to apply principles, details, and cues in between sessions in your own practice to boost your understanding and clarity
Collected hours: 50 hours count towards Education within the GaiaYoga TT300 program.
